Tampa General Hospital

Tampa General Hospital

Interning at Tampa General Hospital has been an incredible learning experience that has broadened my perspective on marketing in the healthcare industry. As part of the marketing team, I’ve had the opportunity to work on projects that highlight TGH’s commitment to innovation, patient care, and community engagement. From collaborating with a talented team, I’ve gained invaluable skills in strategic communication and storytelling. This experience has deepened my understanding of how impactful marketing can enhance the reach and reputation of a world-class organization like TGH.

Internship and Other Experiences

Social Media Marketing

As part of my internship at Tampa General Hospital, I had the privilege of visiting the Muma Children’s Hospital to capture a heartwarming moment—a child celebrating the end of their treatment journey. This inspiring story was shared across Tampa General Hospital’s social media platforms. With a strong presence on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, TGH’s social media channels collectively have 250k followers. It was an incredible experience to contribute to such meaningful storytelling.

Website Work

I created a new treatment page for Microtia Repair and updated key sections of the hospital's website using Sitecore CMS. This project involved building and designing the page to provide clear, helpful information for patients and families.

Shadowed the Senior Physician Business Developer for Tampa General Hospital to see the operations of pursuing new business opportunities, including expanding the patient base, attracting new physicians, and developing strategic partnerships.

Was able to attend commercial shoot week where I got to see the behind the scenes of the production of Tampa General’s Commercial that air’s on local tv. I also took inventory of all the scrubs/white coats and any other items to be used on set by the doctors and nurses.

WFLA / Bloom

During my internship at Tampa General Hospital, I had the unique opportunity to visit WFLA and witness the taping of two segments for the health and wellness program "Bloom," hosted by Gayle Guyardo. In one interview, Dr. Docimo discussed bariatric surgery options and how they compare to popular weight loss drugs. This 4-5 minute segment highlighted cutting-edge solutions for weight management and aired a few days later on Ch. 8/NBC. I also attended another segment featuring Dr. Selim Benbadis, a neurologist with Tampa General Hospital and USF Health, as he discussed the latest advancements in diagnosing and treating epilepsy. This conversation was particularly impactful as November is Epilepsy Awareness Month. These experiences offered valuable insights into how healthcare messaging is tailored for media audiences.

One of my biggest task’s as an intern was gathering and organizing over 200 provider details into excel for the leadership teams across all institutes in order to optimize the website for mobile users. I also was able to update the Research Compliance page, Healthcare Navigator site, and TGH pharmacy residency website, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.

Helped make over 100 name tags and wrap gifts for guest’s for Innovation week.
